PTAD disburses N32,000 arrears to 54,206 pensioners

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has announced that it has completed the payment of outstanding N32,000 monthly pension increment arrears to eligible pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS).

In a statement posted on its X (Twitter) handle on Monday, April 27, 2026, the Head of Corporate Communications, PTAD, Olugbenga Ajayi, said a total sum of ₦1,734,592,000 was disbursed to 54,206 pensioners, settling the final one- month arrears owed under the increment approved by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, taking effect on July 29, 2024.

Under the Parastatal Pension Department (PaPD), 25,804 pensioners received a total of ₦825,728,000, while under the Tertiary Education and Health Pension Department (TEHPD), 28,402 pensioners were paid ₦908,864,000.

According to Olugbega Ajayi, PTAD’s Head of Corporate Communications, the arrears covered a thirteen-month period from August 2024 to August 2025.

“With this final payment, all outstanding obligations of the ₦32,000 pension increment have now been fully settled,” the Directorate stated.

The agency further clarified that pensioners from certain defunct agencies, including Peoples Bank of Nigeria, NICON Insurance, NITEL/MTEL, PHCN, Assurance Bank, Nigeria Reinsurance, and Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), among others, who had previously benefited from percentage-based pension increases of 10.66% and 12.95%, are exempted from the ₦32,000 increment in line with the NSIWC circular.

PTAD reaffirmed its commitment to pensioners’ welfare, stressing that transparency and timely payments remain central to its operations.
