Osun 2026: I’ll run youth-friendly government – Oyebamiji

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 8, 2026 election in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has pledged to run an inclusive, participatory and youth-friendly government if elected.

Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, also expressed confidence that the APC would win the governorship election and return to power this year.

He spoke on Sunday at a special youth programme organised by APC youth leaders from the three senatorial districts of the state at the party’s secretariat in Osogbo. The event was aimed at reconciliation and mobilisation ahead of the election.

Addressing the gathering, Oyebamiji said his administration would prioritise the welfare and wellbeing of the people, with particular emphasis on the youth.

“If elected governor, my government will design policies and programmes that will positively transform the lives of our youths and make them more actively involved in governance,” he said. “Every youth must be able to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Osun State.”

He described youths as the most vibrant, energetic and productive segment of the population, stressing the need to provide an enabling environment for them to thrive.

“The demographic trend from recent elections clearly shows that youths played a major role. This underscores their vibrancy and indispensable value,” Oyebamiji said.

The APC candidate commended party youths across the state for their loyalty, resilience and dedication, describing them as “the soul of the party”. He assured them of his full support in the collective effort to reclaim power.

“Be assured that the incoming administration under my watch will be youth-focused. There will be special programmes for youths, and I will run an open, transparent, mass-oriented, inclusive and participatory government where every citizen matters,” he added.

Oyebamiji urged APC supporters, particularly youths, to take ownership of the campaign project and intensify grassroots mobilisation through door-to-door engagement, expressing confidence that the party would emerge victorious.

Earlier, the APC state youth leader, Hon. Goke Akinwemimo, described Oyebamiji’s emergence as the party’s candidate as a widely accepted decision that had confounded the opposition’s expectation of division within the APC.

Akinwemimo said APC youths in Osun remained united, resilient and well-organised, adding that the party’s youth structure in the state was one of the strongest in the South-West.

“Since 2022, when we were denied victory through electoral irregularities, our youths have remained steadfast and committed to the ideals of the APC,” he said. “We are determined to sustain this momentum until we return to Bola Ige House.”

He called on all party members, especially youths who supported other aspirants during the primaries, to close ranks and focus on defeating the incumbent administration.

Also speaking, youth leaders from Osun West and other parts of the state, including Hon. Imran Mojeed, Hon. Akeem Lawal, Hon. Olayemi Sarafa, Hon. Oluwatoyin Oyedokun and Hon. Akeem Adeyi, reaffirmed their commitment to work tirelessly for the APC’s victory in the forthcoming election.
