Osun 2026: Adeleke campaign unveils three guiding principles, faults APC over ‘gutter language’

The campaign organisation of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has outlined three key principles to guide its activities ahead of the August 15 governorship election, pledging to run an issue-based campaign and avoid personal attacks.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Osogbo, the Adeleke Campaign Organisation criticised leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing them of resorting to “vulgar language” and personal attacks due to what it described as a lack of clear policy direction.

The group said it would not be drawn into mudslinging, insisting its focus would remain on governance records and policy proposals.

“We have noticed a pattern of vulgar language emanating from the opposition APC. We will not swim in the mud with the pig. The recent verbal attacks confirm that Mr Bola Oyebamiji has lost the election even before the day of the ballot,” the statement said.

It added that the campaign would be anchored on three major pillars.

First, the organisation said its campaign would remain issue-based, highlighting the achievements of Governor Adeleke’s administration during his first term, while also presenting an updated five-point agenda for a second term.

The group also took a swipe at the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, alleging that he had yet to present a manifesto to the electorate.

Secondly, the campaign said it would focus on the people of Osun State by drawing attention to their experiences under different administrations over the past eight years, urging voters to make informed choices at the polls.

“We are shifting attention to the people who have experienced both sides to judge and decide on August 15,” the statement added.

Thirdly, the organisation pledged to support the protection of voters and the sanctity of the electoral process, stressing its commitment to lawful measures aimed at ensuring credible elections.

“We are committed to defending, supporting and promoting the safety, supremacy and realisation of the people’s will to be expressed on August 15,” it said.

The group also vowed to back efforts to prevent electoral malpractice, including vote manipulation and intimidation, within the framework of the law.

In a message included in the statement, Governor Adeleke expressed confidence in his re-election, assuring residents that their votes would count.

“Our opponents have conceded defeat by their failure to focus on issues instead of personal attacks. I assure you all that, by God’s grace and your support, I will be re-elected to continue the good work we started in 2022,” he said.

He added that the outcome of the election would reflect the will of the people, expressing optimism that August 15 would mark “the triumph of good over evil.”
