Raheem Okoya, one of the sons of billionaire businessman, Chief Rasaq Okoya, has apologized after a video showing him and his brother Wahab misusing naira notes went viral.

In the video, the brothers were seen spraying and flaunting bundles of naira, with a police officer standing nearby.

The Nigeria Police Force confirmed on Friday 10th January 2025 that the officer involved has been identified and detained for disciplinary action. However, no action has been taken against the Okoya brothers, leading to public criticism.

On 10th January 2025, Raheem shared a public apology via social media, saying: “To the Nigerian people, my actions were not to cause any trouble or harm. My intentions were pure and naive. The video and the lack of accountability for the Okoya brothers have sparked debates about privilege and justice in Nigeria. Neither Chief Okoya nor the police have made further comments.
