Nestlé Nigeria says locally sold infant formula not affected by global recall

Nestlé Nigeria has assured consumers that infant formula products sold in the country are not affected by a voluntary and precautionary recall announced in some other markets, clarifying that the action applies only to specific batches distributed outside Nigeria.

In a statement issued to address public concerns, the company said all infant formula products marketed by Nestlé Nigeria are officially registered with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and fully comply with local regulatory standards.

According to the company, the products unaffected by the recall include the entire SMA range – SMA Gold 1, SMA Gold 2 and SMA Gold 3 – as well as the NAN range, comprising NAN Optipro 1, NAN Optipro 2 and NAN Optipro 3.

Nestlé Nigeria reassured parents and caregivers that these products are safe for consumption, stressing that quality assurance and product safety remain central to its operations.

The company reiterated its commitment to protecting the health and wellbeing of infants and maintaining consumer confidence, noting that it continues to apply strict quality control measures across its supply chain.

The clarification follows reports of a global recall of certain infant formula batches in some countries, which had raised concerns among Nigerian consumers.
