My father gives tips to beat Nigeria-German Captain

Half-Nigerian Germany skipper Kevin Akpoguna has revealed that his father gave the European tips that eventually worked in their favour to beat Nigeria.

After the match at Christchurch yesterday, Akpoguna, who is open to play for the Super Eagles said his dad warned them about the Taiwo Awoniyi, the team’s prolific striker.

He said, “Dad said before Nigeria played Hungary that he would like Nigeria to finish third so that they do not play against Germany in the Round of 16.

He also warned us to be careful about the No.18 (Taiwo Awoniyi) and Isaac Success, because they are dangerous strikers. He was excited to be at the game and he was also holding the Nigerian flag.” Akpoguna said in an interview with AfricanFootball.com moments.

Akpoguna described the Flying Eagles as a very tough side admitting that they were lucky to have progressed at the expense of the African side.

He expects his team to brush aside Mali on Sunday much easier than they eliminated Nigeria in the U20 World Cup Round of 16.
