Lawan bows to pressure, withdraws Adebayo’s appointment as media aide
Senate President, Ahmad Lawan has withdrawn the appointment of Mr Festus Adedayo as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity barely 48 hours after his appointment
A statement on Thursday in Abuja by the Special Assistant to the Senate President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Mohammed Isa, said the appointment was rescinded in the best interest of the Senate President.
“The office of the President of the Senate has reviewed the appointment of Mr. Festus Adedayo as Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the President of the Senate and decided to rescind its decision on the appointment, and wishes Mr. Adebayo the best in his future endeavours,” the statement read.
The Senate President’s decision comes after several All Progressives Congress (APC) loyalists protested the appointment alleging that Mr. Adebayo is is critic of President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC government.
