King Charles expresses concern after Prince Andrew’s arrest over misconduct allegations

King Charles III has expressed “deepest concern” following the arrest of his brother, Prince Andrew, over allegations of misconduct in public office, stressing that the matter must be handled fairly and thoroughly by the relevant authorities.
Prince Andrew, formally known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was taken into custody on Thursday at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. He remains under investigation as authorities pursue allegations of misconduct in public office.
In a statement issued by Buckingham Palace under “Royal Communications,” King Charles said: “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation.”
The King emphasized the importance of due process, adding: “The law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.” The statement was signed “Charles R.”
Royal correspondent Chris Ship noted on X that William, Prince of Wales, and Catherine, Princess of Wales, “fully support the statement William’s father issued this morning.”
This is the first time King Charles has publicly commented in his own words on the unfolding situation involving his younger brother.
