FG escorts Nigerians to safety from Iran amid rising tensions

Officials of the Federal Government of Nigeria have successfully escorted a group of Nigerians out of Iran, following escalating regional tensions.

The Chairman and CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, confirmed the development in a statement released on Wednesday by the Commission’s Director of Media, Abdur-Rahman Balogun.

Dabiri-Erewa said embassy officials guided the Nigerians across the Armenian border to ensure their safety. She added that no Nigerian has been harmed in the ongoing crisis, and government personnel remain at the border to assist anyone seeking to leave.

“The Nigerian government is fully committed to the safety and welfare of its citizens abroad. Embassy staff are providing support to all who wish to exit Iran,” Dabiri-Erewa said.

The evacuation underscores Nigeria’s proactive measures to protect its nationals amid rising instability in the region.
