EPL: United strengthen grip on top four as Spurs earn draw at Anfield to revive survival hopes

Manchester United strengthened their grip near the top of the table with an emphatic 3–1 victory over Aston Villa, moving six points clear of Chelsea at 54 points , while Tottenham Hotspur produced late drama to deny Liverpool all three points and move to 30 points , one above Forrest and West Ham who are both on 29, at Anfield.

At Anfield, the contest ended level as Tottenham rescued a dramatic 1–1 draw in the dying moments. Dominik Szoboszlai had given Liverpool the lead with a stunning free-kick in the 18th minute, a strike that appeared set to secure victory for the hosts.

However, Liverpool were left to regret their failure to convert several second-half chances that could have put the game beyond doubt. Tottenham’s persistence was rewarded in the 90th minute when Richarlison fired home a late equaliser, punishing the hosts’ profligacy and securing a valuable point for the visitors.

Elsewhere, Crystal Palace were frustrated in a goalless stalemate against ten-man Leeds United. The match took a dramatic turn in first-half stoppage time when Gabriel Gudmundsson was sent off after receiving his second yellow card.

Leeds had already squandered a golden opportunity moments earlier, missing a penalty before being reduced to ten men. Palace dominated the second half and repeatedly threatened through Adam Wharton and Jean-Philippe Mateta, but their inability to find a clinical finish meant the Eagles were forced to settle for a disappointing point.

Nottingham Forest and Fulham also shared the spoils in a tense 0–0 draw at the City Ground. Forest controlled much of the second half, yet Taiwo Awoniyi and Neco Williams were unable to capitalise on a series of late chances during a frantic finish. Fulham, who spent long spells absorbing pressure, will likely be the more satisfied side after securing a point away from home, while Forest were left to rue their lack of cutting edge in the final third.

The standout performance of the day came at Old Trafford, where Manchester United defeated Aston Villa 3–1. After a goalless first half, United surged into life with Bruno Fernandes orchestrating the attack. The Portuguese midfielder provided two crucial assists, setting up goals for Casemiro and Matheus Cunha before substitute Benjamin Šeško sealed the victory with a clinical strike shortly after coming on.

Villa briefly threatened to mount a comeback when Ross Barkley equalised earlier in the contest, but they ultimately faltered in the closing stages, squandering several stoppage-time opportunities as United secured an important victory in Round 30.

The result leaves Manchester United six points clear of Chelsea, further intensifying the race at the top of the table.
