COAS Waidi Shaibu visits Kebbi, orders intensified search for abducted schoolgirls

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has directed troops deployed under Operation FANSAN YANMA to step up efforts to secure the release of students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, Kebbi State.

According to a statement on Tuesday by Captain David Adewusi,  Media Information Officer, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the order came during an operational tour to the state on Monday, November 17, 2025, where Gen. Shaibu met frontline commanders and troops, urging them to conduct intelligence-driven operations and pursue the abductors relentlessly. “We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional,” he said.

In addition to military personnel, the COAS engaged local vigilantes and hunters, stressing their role as critical partners in the rescue operation. He encouraged them to use their knowledge of the terrain to assist troops in locating and neutralizing criminal elements. “Together, we will restore peace and ensure children can attend school safely,” he stated.

Earlier, Gen. Shaibu visited the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, and the Principal of GGCSS Maga, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji, offering condolences and assuring them of the army’s commitment to rescuing the students unharmed.
