A bag suspected to contain explosives was found on a road linking Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State personal residence in Dutse, the state capital.

Reports from the state indicated that passers-by saw the bag at a point closer to the residence of a Senator-elect under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Sabo Muhammad Nakudu, suspected to contain explosives. The location was also closer to the official residence of the state deputy governor, who five days to the governorship election defected to the APC.

The personal residence of the defeated Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Alhaji Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, was also said to be closer to the scene.

When contacted, the Jigawa State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abdu Jinjiri, said that “immediately, the police acted fast and discovered it was a bag abandoned on the road.”
