Alleged defamation: Court denies bail to Dele Farotimi, adjourns trial to Dec 20

An Ekiti State Magistrates Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, has denied the human rights lawyer and activist, Dele Farotimi, bail.

Mr. Farotimi was on Tuesday arraigned in court for alleged defamation of the founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Afe Babalola.

At the resumed sitting on Tuesday, the presiding magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, adjourned the application of bail to December 20 after the counsel to the police, Samson Osobu, was adjudged to have proved that the bail application submitted by the defendant was incompetent and irregular.
