Abia partners NJFP 2.0 to boost youth employment, skills development

The Abia State Government has announced a strategic partnership with the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) for the second edition of the initiative, aimed at strengthening youth empowerment, skills development and economic growth in the state.
The state government said the collaboration builds on the successes recorded during the first cohort of the programme and reflects its commitment to equipping young graduates with critical skills required in today’s evolving job market.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, the government said the initiative would provide young graduates in the state with opportunities for hands-on work experience, mentorship and professional development.
According to the statement, the programme will help bridge the gap between academic learning and the labour market while opening pathways for meaningful employment and enterprise development.
The government explained that participation in the programme would be based on a transparent and merit-driven selection process.
Eligible applicants are expected to be Nigerian graduates who have completed the National Youth Service Corps scheme and demonstrate strong academic and professional potential, as well as a commitment to personal growth and innovation.
It added that priority would also be given to candidates with relevant digital, analytical and problem-solving skills, alongside a willingness to learn and adapt in dynamic work environments.
Successful fellows will be placed in reputable organisations across key sectors where they will gain practical work experience and develop competencies that will strengthen their long-term career prospects.
The statement noted that each selected fellow would receive a monthly stipend of ₦150,000 throughout the programme.
Interested applicants were encouraged to register through the programme’s official website.
The state government said the initiative aligns with the development agenda of Governor Alex Otti, whose administration prioritises human capital development, innovation and youth empowerment as drivers of economic transformation.
It added that the partnership would also benefit businesses and institutions in the state by connecting them with highly motivated and trained young professionals.
According to the government, the second edition of the programme is expected to broaden its reach and impact, contributing to efforts to reduce youth unemployment while strengthening Abia’s economic development strategy.
