11 Nigerians, two organisations win National Productivity Award

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity announced on Monday that 11 Nigerians and two private organisations would be conferred with the 2015 National Productivity Order of Merit Award (NPOMA) on Aug. 20.

Dr Clement Illoh, the Permanent Secretary, made this known in Abuja at a news conference to herald the 15th edition of the National Productivity Day Award in Abuja.

He said that the committee set up by the NPOM, had after a thorough screening exercise, recommended 11 individuals and two organisations drawn from all sectors of the economy for the award.

According to him, the awardees are Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, the Corps Marshal, Federal Road safety Commission, Dr Tunji Olaopa, the former Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Mr Anthony Ani, Director, NYSC Corps Mobilisation, and Mr saleh Dunoma, Director Engineering Services, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

Others are Mrs Uwemedimo, Mr Ajibola Olabode, CP Marcus Danladi, Mr Danliti Isah, Comrade Lateef Oyelekan and Dr John Alfa, while the two organisations are Lubcon Ltd and Artee Group.

Illoh said that the conferment of the NPOM was a positive step by the government to stimulate the psyche of Nigerians towards re-directing their efforts to the growth and development of the country.

“At both the individual and organisational levels, the NPOM is a thoughtful incentive scheme designed to positively affect productivity.

“The award has been creating the desired awareness and competitive spirit among government officials at the federal, state and local government levels and the private sector, who constantly strive to improve their productivity.

“These people are those listed for recognition and the conferment of the award and the plethora of completed award forms returned to the NPOMA Secretariat attest to this fact,” he said.

He said that President Muhammadu Buhari was conscious of the critical role of productivity in the realisation of the change agenda, adding that no nation could enjoy a standard of living higher than its level of productivity.

“No nation can be self-reliant and competitive in the international market without productivity improvement in all sectors of the economy, “ Illoh said.
