Julius Berger MD applauds Tinubu, Wike over Abuja infrastructure drive

The Managing Director of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Dr. Peer Lubasch, has commended President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for what he described as the remarkable transformation of Abuja through sustained infrastructure development.

Lubasch gave the commendation during a gala dinner held to mark the end of 31 consecutive days of project inaugurations and flag-offs organised by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) as part of activities commemorating Abuja’s 50th anniversary.

He congratulated the FCTA and residents of the nation’s capital on the successful completion of major infrastructure projects, noting that the new roads, bridges and public facilities would improve transportation, stimulate economic growth and enhance the quality of life for residents.

The Julius Berger boss praised President Tinubu for making infrastructure development a key pillar of the Renewed Hope Agenda, saying the administration’s commitment was evident in the numerous projects delivered across the FCT.

He also lauded Wike for accelerating Abuja’s development through the completion of previously abandoned projects and the execution of new infrastructure initiatives.

According to Lubasch, the pace of development witnessed in recent years has renewed confidence in the city’s growth and positioned the capital for greater economic expansion.

He recalled Abuja’s transformation from undeveloped land into one of Africa’s leading planned cities, noting that although progress had slowed at certain periods, the current administration had restored momentum to the city’s development.

Lubasch described the Abuja@50 celebration as an opportunity to recognise not only the capital’s physical transformation but also the contributions of institutions, professionals, engineers and workers whose efforts have shaped the city over the years.

He reaffirmed Julius Berger’s longstanding role in Abuja’s development, highlighting the company’s involvement in constructing many of the city’s major roads, bridges, public buildings and engineering landmarks since its inception.

“Abuja is more than a project location for Julius Berger; it is part of our corporate history. We are proud to have contributed to its development from the beginning and remain committed to supporting its future growth,” he said.

The managing director also reiterated the company’s commitment to partnering with government in delivering infrastructure that promotes urban renewal, improves connectivity and strengthens the capital’s competitiveness.

He acknowledged the contributions of other construction firms, consultants, engineers, suppliers and skilled workers involved in the FCT’s infrastructure programme, describing the achievements as a collective success for Nigeria’s construction industry.

While noting that construction companies compete for contracts, Lubasch stressed that they all share the common objective of delivering quality infrastructure that supports national development and improves the lives of citizens.

He concluded by describing Abuja’s development as a continuous process that requires sustained investment, collaboration and visionary leadership.

“Great cities are never truly finished. They continue to evolve, grow and improve with every generation,” he said.
