Several leading government agencies, financial institutions and corporate organisations have thrown their weight behind the 2026 edition of the SUPERNEWS Local Content Conference and the media platform’s 10th anniversary celebration scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Among the organisations supporting the event are the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Nigeria LNG (NLNG), Leadway Assurance Company Limited, Guinea Insurance Plc, the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), Stanbic IBTC Holdings, Universal Insurance Plc and Ugooafunwa Investment Company Limited.
Speaking ahead of the conference, the Convener and Publisher of SUPERNEWS Nigeria, Ngozi Onyeakusi, expressed appreciation to the organisations for their confidence in the annual event and their commitment to promoting conversations that drive national development.
She said the growing support from reputable institutions reflects the increasing relevance of the SUPERNEWS Annual Conference as a platform for policy dialogue, stakeholder engagement and the promotion of excellence across key sectors of the Nigerian economy.
Onyeakusi particularly commended NLNG and Leadway Assurance for their consistent support over the years, while also acknowledging the contributions of other organisations and individuals that have partnered with SUPERNEWS Nigeria in advancing its mission.
The 2026 conference, themed “Local Content and Digitisation: Building Synergy Between Oil and Gas and Insurance Sectors for Inclusive Growth,” will be chaired by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Universal Insurance Plc, Dr. Jeff Duru, while the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Royal Exchange Plc, Mrs. Idu Okeahialam, will deliver the keynote address.
The event is expected to bring together regulators, industry operators, chief executives, policymakers, civil society organisations, media professionals, students and other stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for strengthening collaboration between the oil and gas and insurance sectors through local content development and digital transformation.
According to Onyeakusi, the conference has evolved into one of Nigeria’s respected platforms for discussing economic and policy issues, recognising outstanding achievements and fostering stronger collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders.
This year’s edition is particularly significant as it coincides with the 10th anniversary of SUPERNEWS Nigeria, marking a decade of dedicated journalism, credible reporting and sustained advocacy in the financial, insurance, oil and gas, and telecommunications sectors.
As part of the anniversary celebration, the organisation will honour institutions that have distinguished themselves through innovation, effective regulation, exemplary leadership and service excellence.
Reflecting on the milestone, Onyeakusi described the anniversary as a celebration of resilience, professionalism and unwavering commitment to responsible journalism.
She reaffirmed SUPERNEWS Nigeria’s resolve to continue promoting informed public discourse, supporting policy advocacy and creating platforms that encourage constructive engagement for national growth and development.
With preparations in top gear, stakeholders from across various sectors are expected to converge on Lagos for what promises to be an engaging conference and a celebration of excellence in corporate leadership, public service and economic development.
