Ogun attracts new $250m dairy investment as firm plans mega farm in Ogun West

By Popoola Jamiu, Abeokuta
Ogun State has secured another major investment in its agricultural sector, with Pure Dairy Herds, a specialised cattle and milk production company, announcing plans to establish one of Nigeria’s largest dairy farms in the state.
The proposed project, valued at $250 million, is expected to boost local milk production and strengthen Nigeria’s agricultural value chain.
The company’s representative, Mr. Farouk Gumel, disclosed this to journalists after a meeting with Governor Dapo Abiodun at the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Gumel said the firm is partnering with international experts to develop a world-class dairy farm that will significantly enhance domestic dairy production and reduce the country’s dependence on imported milk products.
He revealed that the company had completed the acquisition of land for the project in Ogun West Senatorial District, clearing the way for development work to commence.
According to him, the decision to locate the investment in Ogun State was influenced by the state’s investor-friendly policies, conducive business environment, and ongoing infrastructure development, particularly in Ogun West.
He also commended the host communities for their warm reception and cooperation, describing the location as ideal for large-scale dairy farming.
“Ogun is the best. We already have a few operations in Ogun State, and this project is a testament to how well we have been received and treated,” he said.
“We are fortunate to have Ogun State as our host, and we are particularly excited about moving into Ogun West, which holds great promise, especially with the critical infrastructure projects taking place in the area.”
Gumel further disclosed that preparations were underway for the groundbreaking ceremony of the dairy farm, which is expected to take place within the next two to three weeks.
The investment is expected to boost local dairy production, create employment opportunities, stimulate economic activities in Ogun West, and further strengthen Ogun State’s reputation as a preferred destination for both local and foreign investors.
