First Batch of Ogun Hajj Pilgrims Expected at Gateway International Airport

The first batch of Ogun State pilgrims who participated in the 2026 Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is expected to arrive at the Gateway International Airport (GIA), Iperu, on Thursday, marking the commencement of the return journey of pilgrims from the annual Islamic pilgrimage.

Airport Manager, Engr. Adebowale Arogundade, disclosed that all necessary arrangements had been concluded to ensure a seamless reception process for the returning pilgrims.

 

According to him, Flynas Airlines will airlift 345 pilgrims aboard an Airbus A330 aircraft from Jeddah at 1:00 p.m. local time, with arrival at the Gateway International Airport scheduled for 7:50 p.m. Nigerian time.

 

The pilgrims, who joined millions of Muslims from across the world in performing the sacred rites in Makkah and Madinah, are expected to be received by government officials, family members and well-wishers at the airport.

 

Speaking on the preparations, Arogundade said adequate logistics, security and medical arrangements had been put in place to facilitate the smooth movement of the pilgrims from the airport to their various destinations across the state.

He commended the Ogun State Government for its support towards the successful participation of the state’s contingent in the 2026 Hajj exercise and praised officials of the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board for their dedication and commitment throughout the pilgrimage.

 

The airport manager also appealed to families, friends and well-wishers of the pilgrims to cooperate with airport and security personnel during the reception process to ensure orderliness, safety and efficient operations.
