Osun 2026: Oyebamiji will beat Adeleke hands down - Omowaiye

By Sunday Oguntuyi

The Head of Media and Publicity of the APC Governorship Campaign Council, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, has expressed confidence that the party’s candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, will defeat incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke in the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State.

Omowaiye made the remarks on Monday during a familiarisation visit to members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents’ Chapel in Osogbo, where he criticised the performance of the current administration.

He alleged mismanagement of public funds by the state government, claiming that significant revenues accrued over the past 41 months had not translated into visible development across key sectors.

The APC spokesman also raised concerns over budgetary allocations, alleging that spending on agriculture was comparatively low, while recurrent expenditures, including administrative costs, were high. He called on the state government to provide a detailed account of its expenditures.

Omowaiye, who serves as Executive Director, Projects Implementation at the Federal Housing Authority, said the APC candidate has the experience and capacity to address the state’s challenges if elected.

He criticised conditions in sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture and infrastructure, arguing that they require urgent attention.

On education, he referenced tuition levels at state-owned institutions, describing them as high and burdensome for many families.

Omowaiye said Oyebamiji’s campaign agenda outlines plans to improve governance and stimulate development across sectors, adding that the party is confident of victory at the polls.
