Electoral Act: Senate’s betrayal, a call to action for all Nigerians

2027 polls: APC, Akpabio's dangerous plot

The Nigerian Senate, led by Godswil Akpabio, has once again proven itself to be a rubber-stamp for the Presidency. The recent passage of the Electoral Act amendment without real-time electronic transmission of votes cast from polling units to the iref portal is a stark reminder of their disregard for citizens’ voices. This decision screams “RIGGING” and we’re left wondering if our votes even matter.

But there’s a glimmer of hope – Distinguished Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan, the voice of Kogi Central, and some opposition senators have  spoken out against this shameless move. Senator Abaribe and others have spoken saying the Senate has not rejected the electronic transmission. Senator Natasha championing the cause of transparency and fairness, has also added her voice, demanding real-time electronic transmission of results to curb ballot snatching, violence, and rigging.

This is a wake-up call for Nigerians! We must hold our Senators accountable. It’s time to question those who’ve kept quiet on this issue. Are they complicit in this betrayal?

To every Senator who’s unsure, we ask: If you’re confident in your people’s support, and you are sure you have given adequate representation,  why fear real-time electronic transmission of results?

The answer is clear: they want to force themselves on their people , cling into power via rigging, ignoring the will of the people. We won’t stand for it!

We must demand:

– Real-time electronic transmission of results

– Transparency in the electoral process

– Accountability from our leaders

We must insist that our votes count, this is not the time Nigerians keep quiet, we must rise up through peaceful advocacy  and reclaim our democracy!
