Stock Market Rises by 0.26%

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange on Wednesday closed on a positive note as The All Share Index rose by 0.26% to close at 149,842.82 points from the previous close of 149,459.11 points.

The Market Capitalisation appreciated by 0.26% to close at N95.525 trillion from the previous close of N95.281 trillion, thereby gaining N244 billion.

An aggregate of 5.9 billion units of shares were traded in 25,205 deals, valued at N216 billion.

The Market Breadth closed positive as 38 equities appreciated in their share prices against 23 equities that declined in their share prices.

Percentage Gainers

FIRSTHOLDCO, LASACO, VERITS KAPITAL and Prestige Assurance led other gainers with 10.00% growth each above their previous close N0.70.

MECURE and Linkage Assurance among other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.92% and 9.70% respectively.

Percentage Losers

Living Trust Insurance led other price decliners as it shed 10.00% of its share price to close at N3.15 from the previous close of N3.50.

International Energy Insurance and MCNICHOLS among other price decliners also shed their share prices by 9.92% and 6.90% respectively.

Volume Drivers

FIRSTHOLDCO traded about 108 million units of its shares in 918 deals, valued at about N4.2 billion.

Sterling Bank traded about 87 million units of its shares in 371 deals, valued at N606 million.

FCMB traded about 74 million units of its shares in 380 deals, valued at about N784 million.
