DSTV/GOTV to leave Nigeria in 2019

MultiChoice Ltd, owners of DSTV and GOTV may leave Nigeria in 2019 as the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) has said it would not renew its license which expires in June next year.

NBC, Business Hallmark leant, has notified the management of MultiChoice of the decision via a letter issued on Tuesday,

The regulatory body, it was learnt, explained that the license issued to the network in 2014 would not be renewed because it was not in line with Digital Switch Over (DSO) White Paper.

It noted that if Multichoice still wishes to ever operate in Nigeria after 2019, the only option it has is to go to licensed Signal Distribution company, Pinnacle Communications Ltd.
