Jeremiah Joseph, a 65-year-old man, has been arrested by the Lagos State police command for obtaining N120,000 under the guise of being a soldier.
Joseph, it was gathered, approached his victim identified as Ignatius, with a promise to mobilize ‘fellow’ soldiers in order to help him recover his N4.5 million debt, but absconded after collecting N120,000 from him.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State police command disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
“Officers of Ipaja Division have arrested 65-year old Jeremiah Joseph who presented himself as an Army Lieutenant to one Ignatius. The fake Lieutenant promised to arrange soldiers to help Ignatius recover N4.5m owed him by some people in Delta State,” Hundeyin said via his twitter handle, @BenHundeyin.
“He received N120,000 for this service and thereafter absconded. Found in his apartment were a fake Army identity card and uniform.”
