Publishing czar to headline Booksellers Directory presentation at NIBF 2021
Publishing czar and Managing Director of Evans Brothers Nigeria Publishers Limited, Mr. Lukman Dauda, is among several distinguished guests billed to headline the public presentation event of the print edition of the Nigerian Booksellers Directory 2021 taking place at the Nigerian International Book Fair in Lagos on Thursday.
According to a statement from the association and signed by its President and Chief Host of the event, Mr. Dare Oluwatuyi, the Director General of the Nigerian Copyright Commission, Mr. John Asein is billed to be Guest of Honour at the event which will be chaired by Mr. Olarenwaju Damion Adesuyi, MD/Chief Executive Officer, Havilah Group of Companies.
The Booksellers Association of Nigeria is a founding member of the Nigerian Book Fair Trust, organisers of the annual Nigerian International Book Fair, NIBF, which is now in its 20th run.
It is also hosting its Annual General Meeting at the event where, among other things, elections are to be conducted to choose officials to run the association for the next two years.
While the book fair opens to the public on Tuesday, July 27 with an opening conference, the Booksellers Day is Thursday, July 29.
The activities for the day begin at 10.00a.m. with the Conference and goes on to the presentation of the print edition of the Nigerian Booksellers Directory at 1.00pm.
The theme of the Conference Event is “Women in Bookselling in Nigeria: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” and it will be chaired by Hon. (Mrs.) Folashade Shinkaiye, CEO, Sterling Books Nigeria Limited.
Among other discussants at the Conference are Mrs. Edith Obieke, MD/CEO of High Flyers Educational Services Limited; Mrs. Olo Okaisabor, Founder, Chapter Books Limited; and Pastor Mrs. Oluyinka Morgan, Executive Director at Laterna Ventures Limited and founder of Laterna Book Club.
Other activities taking place at the fair include presentations by the UN SDG Book Club African Chapter, a Conference of the Network of Book Clubs & Reading Promoters in Nigeria on ‘A Vision of 774 Nigerian Book Clubs’ , and the presentation of a new book, Madagali, by the writer and Secretary General of the Pan African Writers Association, PAWA, Dr. Wale Okediran.
