2027: SDP chair, El-Rufai, Al-Mustapha, others hold strategic meeting

The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Shehu Gabam, on Tuesday, held a “strategic meeting” at the party’s headquarters with Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna, Hamza Al-Mustapha, the ex-aide to the late Sani Abacha, and other politicians in attendance.

Segun Showunmi, a former spokesperson of the Atiku Abubakar campaign organisation who also attended the meeting in Abuja, it was to “strategise ahead of the 2027 elections.”

“Ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 elections, a key meeting was held by His Excellency Shehu Gabam, Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), with political figures including former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, and Segun Showunmi, known as ‘The Alternative,'” he wrote on Facebook.

“The meeting aimed to review the current state of opposition politics and find ways to strengthen it for the upcoming elections.”
