2026 Poll: Aree-in-Council Endorses Adeleke for Second Term

By Sunday Oguntuyi, Osogbo

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has received a major political boost ahead of the 2026 governorship election, as the Aree-in-Council and the people of Iree formally endorsed his bid for a second term, citing his administration’s infrastructure development and inclusive approach to governance.

The endorsement came during a courtesy visit by a high-powered delegation from Iree led by the Aree of Iree, Oba Muritala Omotayo Oyelakin, Oyekun III.

Speaking on behalf of the community, the monarch commended the governor for the rehabilitation of key roads in Iree, including the township roads, Palace Road and the Iree-Ada Road, describing the projects as clear evidence of the administration’s commitment to the development of all parts of Osun State.

“We have seen your good works in Iree. The rehabilitation of our township roads, especially the Palace Road and the Iree-Ada Road, has brought relief to our people. We appreciate your commitment to our town,” the monarch said.

He also praised Adeleke for ensuring equitable distribution of development projects across the state, noting that no community had been neglected under his administration.

“We have also observed that your administration does not discriminate in the distribution of development. Communities across Osun are benefiting from your leadership, and Iree is proud to be one of them.

“Politics should be about performance, and we have seen performance. Our people can see the projects and they know the difference. That is why we are here to appreciate you and to declare our support for your second term,” Oba Oyelakin added.

The traditional ruler offered prayers for the governor’s continued success, expressing confidence that another term in office would enable him to consolidate the developmental strides already recorded across the state.

“Our administration is committed to fairness, justice and inclusive governance. Every town matters to us, and we will continue to ensure that Iree is not left behind in our development agenda,” the governor said.

“I appreciate this endorsement and the confidence reposed in our administration. It will further strengthen our resolve to serve the people with sincerity and dedication.”

The delegation included members of the Iree Traditional Council, Deputy President of the Iree Progressives Association (Global Executive), Alhaji Waheed Lawal; the Chief Imam of Iree, Sheikh Sulaiman Ayaniyi Adeyemo; the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Iree Chapter, as well as members of the state executive council, special advisers and other government officials.
