Yahaya Bello, Ododo visit Wike in Abuja

The embattled former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has visited the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, at his Abuja residence on Thursday afternoon.
Bello was accompanied by his successor and current Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo.
The visit was disclosed in a statement by the minister’s spokesman, Lere Olayinka, on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.
The reason for the visit or what was discussed at the meeting is unknown.
Bello is facing a 19-count charge bordering on alleged money laundering to the tune of N80 billion. The federal government would later file another N110.4 billion fraud case against him.
The former governor of Kogi is currently out on bail as his trial progresses.
The former governor’s ordeal started immediately after his exit from the Kogi State Government House after his eight-year govenorship tenure in 2024. The development has also alienated Bello from the activities of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Bello had also blamed some of APC powerful members for his predicament.
His visit to Wike in the midst of his current political challenges is seen by political observers as a likely way of seeking new alliances with influential members of President Bola Tinubu cabinet, apparently for reintegration into the ruling power bloc.
