Tottenham’s relegation woes deepen, Man City pile pressure on Arsenal after thrashing Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur’s relegation fears took another damaging hit following a narrow 1–0 defeat to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, while Manchester City strengthened their title push with a commanding victory over Chelsea to keep the pressure firmly on Arsenal.

Spurs’ struggles continued as they fell to a disciplined Sunderland side, with Nordi Mukiele’s stunning long-range strike in the 61st minute proving the difference. Despite a late surge led by Pedro Porro, Tottenham were unable to break through a resolute defensive setup, leaving them dangerously close to the drop zone as the season edges toward its climax.

At the top end of the table, Manchester City produced a ruthless display to dismantle Chelsea 3–0, sending a clear message in the title race. Nico O’Reilly opened the scoring with a composed header before Marc Guéhi and Jérémy Doku added further goals to cap a dominant performance. Rayan Cherki was instrumental throughout, providing two assists in a midfield masterclass that left Chelsea chasing shadows.

Elsewhere, Liverpool maintained their strong form with a controlled 2–0 win over Fulham at Anfield. Promising youngster Rio Ngumoha and Mohamed Salah struck in quick succession before the break, giving the hosts a comfortable cushion. Fulham applied pressure in the second half, winning nine corners, but Liverpool’s organised defence ensured they saw out the victory without conceding.

At Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace staged a dramatic late comeback to defeat Newcastle United 2–1. The visitors had taken the lead through William Osula in the first half, but Jean-Philippe Mateta emerged as the hero for Palace. The substitute powered home an equaliser in the 80th minute before calmly converting a stoppage-time penalty to complete a remarkable turnaround.

Brentford and Everton played out an entertaining 2–2 draw, with both sides showing resilience. Igor Thiago netted twice for Brentford, including a penalty, but Everton responded on each occasion through Beto and a dramatic late equaliser from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to snatch a valuable point.

With results tightening both ends of the table, Tottenham’s plight continues to worsen, while Manchester City’s relentless form ensures the title race remains firmly alive.
