Pensioners commend Gov Adeleke for his retiree friendly policies

Senior citizens under the aegis of the 2011/2012 Concerned Group of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Osun State Chapter, have commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for his retiree-friendly policies.
Speaking at the Nigeria Union of Pensioners 2025 South West meeting held in Osogbo, Osun State capital recently, the Interim Chairman of the group, Pastor Fakorede Emmanuel lauded Governor Adeleke for implementing N25,000 minimum pension across the board in December 2024 and paying N10,000 as palliatives to cushion the effect of economic hardship.
He affirmed their unwavering support for Governor Adeleke re-election, predicting a landslide victory in the 2026 governorship election.
Emmanuel assured the Governor that 95% of Osun retirees are solidly behind him and ready to work for his victory.
According to him, ”At this juncture, the members of the 2011/2012 Concern Group wish to categorically state that we, the retirees of Osun State, strongly condemn the press conference and protest staged late last year by some faceless individuals against our amiable and retiree-friendly Governor, Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke. We distance ourselves from this uncalled-for protest and realfin our appreciation for the Governor’s leadership. Gbogbo ara Osun won gbadun ijoba yin.
“His Excellency, Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademoia Adeleke, the 2011/2012 retirees will forever be grateful for your generosity in the following areas: Prompt payment of our monthly pension when due, Gradual offsetting of half-pension arrears inherited from the previous two APC governors, who failed to address them.
“Gradual payment of the backlog of gratuities, which the former APC governors intentionally neglected, Implementation of a pension increase of 25,000 across the board in December 2024. 5. Payment of N10,000 as a palliative to cushion the economic hardships caused by the fuel subsidy removal
“Inclusion of Osun State retirees in the Osun State Health Insurance Scheme to improve our health status. Appointment of a retiree as your Special Adviser on Labour.
“The promise of numerous welfare packages, including the implementation of the N18,000 minimum wage for 2011 retirees (a benefit previously denied by the past APC governors) and the consequential adjustment of pensions.
“Your Excellency, the entire retirees of Osun State, particularly the 2011/2012 group, affirm our unwavering support for you, both before, during, and after the 2026 governorship election. We pray for your landslide victory in 2026 and commit to being part of your campaign. We boldly declare that there will be no vacancy for any other party in Aberee in 2026 and beyond.
“At this point, I want to reiterate our unwavering support for the leadership of the NUP Osun State Chapter in whatever course you are championing. We assure our members at home that the 2011/2012 Concern Group Committee will never disappoint or betray them. We are resolute in our determination to free retirees from the oppression, exploitation, and deceitful leadership of the rejected individuals. We advise you to cease offering them financial support and to provide us with useful, objective, and constructive advice that will move us forward as retirees.”
