The General Manager sales of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing company based in Nnewi, Mr. Kosy Maduanusi has disclosed that contrary to what people think, the vehicles its company produces in Nigeria are far less expensive than imported vehicles.

In a chat with Hallmark Business he said, “our made in Nigeria vehicle is cheaper compared to foreign ones because we cut cost of manufacturing by sourcing for some of our raw production materials locally. All our plastics for instance are gotten from the plastic manufacturing company in Emene Industrial Layout in Enugu.

Our batteries are supplied by Ibeto group of companies. The Exhaust is manufactured by Omata Holdings and our oil is produced in Nnewi. We also produce the vehicle upholstery locally. So this goes a long way in reducing the number of materials we import for vehicle manufacture.”

He also noted that with the full they support they have enjoyed from Government in terms of providing them with good working conditions and relaxed government policies, they have started exporting their vehicles to foreign countries. “The minister of Industry, Trade and Investment of Nigeria, Dr. Olusegun Aganga has been of immense support to us. This is why since last year; we have been exporting our vehicles to countries like Ghana, Republic of Benin, Gambia, Sierra Leone and a host of other African countries. In terms of foreign exchange earnings it is good for Nigeria.”

On the level of awareness created in Nigeria to attract local market, Mr Maduanusi further stressed that they have been running advert in many daily newspapers in the country to showcase their various brands of vehicle which are of wonderful quality.
