Osun 2026: Oyintiloye urges INEC to simplify PVC collection

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to adopt a more efficient and voter-friendly framework for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo, Oyintiloye said the current PVC collection process had subjected many eligible voters to unnecessary stress and delays, urging the electoral umpire to introduce measures that would make the exercise easier and more accessible.

According to him, simplifying the collection process would encourage greater participation in the election and enable more citizens to exercise their constitutional right to vote.

Despite his concerns, the former lawmaker appealed to eligible voters not to be discouraged by the challenges associated with collecting their PVCs. He urged those who had yet to obtain their cards to do so and participate peacefully in the election.

Oyintiloye also advised voters not to succumb to fear amid reports of intimidation, insisting that no individual or group should be allowed to undermine the democratic process.

“No individual or group should be allowed to undermine the democratic process through acts capable of causing panic or discouraging lawful participation in the election,” he said.

He further called on security agencies to remain vigilant and professional in protecting lives and property before, during and after the election.

Oyintiloye urged law enforcement agencies to ensure that anyone involved in violence, intimidation or any action capable of disrupting the electoral process is apprehended and prosecuted.

Expressing confidence in the chances of the APC, he said the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), enjoys widespread support across the state and is well-positioned to win the election.

He attributed his optimism to what he described as the goodwill and enthusiasm shown towards the APC candidate by residents, adding that the party was firmly on course to reclaim power in the state.

“The journey back to government has begun for the APC, and we are confident that the people of Osun will democratically elect Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji as the next governor of the state,” he said.
