Olufon Stool: Olurombi family cautions Adeleke against imposition of candidate

Olurombi family of Odunolu royal house in Ifon-Osun, has cautioned the state governor, Ademola Adeleke against imposing any candidate as Olufon of Ifon, saying the selection process for choosing Olufon was predetermined.
This was contained in a letter issued and signed by Prince Khalid Toyese of Odunolu Olurombi Royal Family, Ifon-Osun State.
He called Governor Adeleke to caution a Prince that declared himself a King-Elect.
The Letter reads: We are deeply concerned by recent events surrounding the kingship selection process in Ifon-Orolu land. It has come to our attention that a certain Prince, in a bid to claim the throne prematurely, has erroneously associated His Excellency Senator Nurudeen Ademola Jackson Adeleke with his dubious actions.
“The alleged election was merely a recommendation by kingmakers, identifying four qualified princes for the Olufon position. It is alarming that one of the princes has declared himself king-elect, causing potential unrest in the community. We implore Governor Adeleke to address this situation promptly”
“We call on the Osun state government to carefully investigate the process that produced the said Prince as oba elect and cautioned him against his premature declaration, considering the recent communal clash in the region. Governor Adeleke, known for his commitment to peace, is urged to intervene and ensure a lawful and harmonious selection process for the Olufon.
“Furthermore, we request an investigation into the Eesa of Ifon-Orolu for his questionable role in the process. His alleged involvement in malpractices and undue influence should be thoroughly examined to maintain the integrity of the traditional selection process.
“We would like the state governor to take a critical look at our below recommendations:
(1) We want to first of all appreciate the Governor for the use of 1988 Olufon chieftaincy Declaration in the process of selecting Olufon.
(2 )We want state here that, the process so far is fraudulent, highly corrupt and intimidating.
(3) The kingmakers are not allowed to perform their expected roles of necessary consultations under the tradition and customs of lfon Osun in the process of selecting Olufon.
(4)The entire process was a predetermined and doctored process that was not acceptable by the generality.
(5) The need for the Governor to call for immediate investigation to the process so as not to rubbish the good intention of the Governor in being fair and transparent.
(6) Agitation for hurrying in the continuation of the process is to cover-up the malpractices and corrupt tendency of the Regent in question.
“The concerned group highlights the irregularities in the nomination process, citing malpractices by both government officials and the Eesa. The kingmakers were supposed to be furnished with list of qualified contestants for traditional ritual to be done even if election will take place. The governor is urged to initiate a fresh selection process, ensuring transparency and adherence to chieftaincy laws.
“We appreciate the continuous support of His Excellency Senator Nurudeen Ademola Jackson Adeleke and other notable personalities for Ifon-Orolu. We seek justice, fairness, and a peaceful resolution to this matter”
