Ogun govt resumes rehabilitation work on Sango-Ijoko Road

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has announced the commencement of rehabilitation work on the 17-kilometer Sango-Ijoko road, which would be divided into two sections to ensure its timely completion.
The Governor made the disclosure during an inspection tour of ongoing road projects within the Ifo 2, State Constituency, saying that the 3.25-kilometer Alagbole-Ajuwon-Akute road, in Ifo Local Government Area would be fully completed and ready for commissioning by the end of February 2025.
He explained. “About four months ago, we visited this area in response to complaints about the deplorable condition of roads in Ifo 2, particularly Alagbole-Ajuwon, Denro-Ishashi-Akute, Ajuwon-Akite, Ijoko-Sango and Lambe. At the time, I promised to return within a few months to commission the rehabilitated roads.
“Today, I am here, the Alagbole-Akute road is now completed and 100 percent ready for commissioning. Ajuwon-Akute road, spanning 3.25 kilometers is still under construction and will be fully completed by the end of February, by God’s grace”, he said.
The Governor emphasised that the Sango-Ijoko was a long road with an outstanding of 17 kilometers that would be divided into two sections of 8 kilometers each, hinting that he had instructed the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure that construction must start immediately at the worst sections of the road.
Prince Abiodun however, enjoined the residents to use and maintain the roads responsibly to ensure their durability and functionality.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Ifo Community Development Committee (CDC), Alhaji Akangbe Olatunde, commended Governor Abiodun for fulfilling his promises and bringing joy to the people of Ifo Local Government through the ongoing road projects.
Responding, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Hadijat Adeleye, lauded the Governor’s intervention in addressing the infrastructural neglect previously endured by the constituency.
She stated further, “We have faced untold hardship in this area due to the neglect of past administrations, despite being a border community with Lagos, we had little to show for it. But Governor Dapo Abiodun has given us hope by lifting us out of the dust and bringing development to Ifo 2. We are immensely grateful”,
