Nigerian Olympian, Jerry Okorodudu, dies after partial stroke

A former Nigerian boxer, Jerry Okorodudu, has died after suffering partial stroke.

His wife, Adenike confirmed his passing on Wednesday.

Okorodudu, who was one of Nigeria’s most celebrated boxers in the 1980s, died at a private hospital in Surulere, Lagos.

The 64-year-old, who battled foot ulcer in the past couple of years, competed in the men’s middleweight category at the 1984 summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

He won a bronze medal at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, Australia.

Okorodudu also won gold at the 1979 National Sports Festival in Ibadan.
