Nigerian equity market reverses downturn, gains 1.21%

The Nigeria equity market overturned previous day negative result to gain N164 billion in market capitalization at the close of trading as investors resumed positioning in anticipation of the release of half year earnings and interim dividend announcements on Tuesday. Similarly, market breadth closed positive, with 21 gainers as against 15 losers.

The All Share Index (ASI) increased by 336.18 absolute points, representing a growth of 1.21% to close at 28,144.87 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization gained N163.84 billion, representing a surge of 1.21% and closed at N13.72 trillion.
NEIMETH emerged the top gainer while FO emerged as top loser
The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; WAPCO (+9.92%) UACN (+5.36%), NESTLE (+5.32%), CCNN (+4.58%), WEMABANK (+3.33%), TRANSCORP (+3.16%), DANGCEM (+2.35%) HONYFLOUR (+1.04%), FBNH (+0.88%), MTNN (+0.79%) ACCESS (+0.77%), ZENITHBANK (+0.54%), and STANBIC (+0.26%).
