NADDC strengthens collaboration with Bayero University on EV, CNG technology

The National Automotive Design and Development Council, NADDC, has received a high- level delegation from Bayero University, Kano, BUK, led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Development), at the Council’s headquarters in Abuja.

The visit focused on strengthening collaboration between both institutions through the effective utilization of the NADDC Electric Vehicle, EV, Charging Station and Compressed Natural Gas, CNG, Conversion Centre established at the University.

Professor Amina expressed the University’s appreciation to NADDC for selecting Bayero University as one of the beneficiaries of the intervention. She noted that the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Automotive Engineering Programme provide the ideal environment for the project, adding that the centre will significantly enhance teaching, research, innovation, and practical learning.

She stated that Bayero University is determined to become one of Nigeria’s leading universities and that strategic partnerships with institutions like NADDC, supported by modern facilities and active student engagement, will accelerate the achievement of that vision.Africans & Diaspora

To improve the impact and sustainability of the project, Professor Amina requested that NADDC upgrade the EV Charging Station to accommodate electric cars, tricycles, and motorcycles, noting that electric and CNG-powered vehicles are becoming an integral part of Nigeria’s transportation system. She also advocated for the establishment of a standard automobile maintenance workshop at the centre.

She further proposed that the Bayero University facility serve as a regional NADDC training centre for engineering institutions across Northern Nigeria. In addition, she called for stronger collaboration between the University and all NADDC automotive centres to provide quality SIWES placements and practical training opportunities for engineering students.
