Mercy Chinwo accuses ex-manager of exploitation, spreading false paternity rumours

Gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, has accused her former manager, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu (popularly known as EeZee Tee), of threats, exploitation, and of spreading false rumors about her personal life, including the paternity of her son.

The singer made these revelations in an emotional video shared on Instagram, detailing years of alleged mistreatment and harassment.

Chinwo explained that she was forced to relocate from Lagos to Port Harcourt due to safety concerns stemming from EeZee Tee’s actions. “A man claimed I sued him, came online, and made videos to tarnish my image. He looked at me and said, ‘I made you who you are, and I will destroy you.’ I became scared for my life,” she said, adding that the environment had become “toxic.”

One of the most serious allegations Chinwo made involved false claims linking Pastor Nathaniel Bassey to her child. She said the accusations were rooted in EeZee Tee’s personal grievances with the pastor. “Because this man hates Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, he went as far as sponsoring fake news about my innocent child, claiming he was not my son,” she revealed. Chinwo also claimed that EeZee Tee discouraged her from attending events hosted by Pastor Jerry Eze due to his personal dislike of the clergyman.

In April 2024, Pastor Nathaniel Bassey formally petitioned the Inspector-General of Police to investigate and prosecute those responsible for the false paternity claims. Chinwo expressed relief that the truth about the allegations is gradually coming to light.

The singer also accused her former manager of withholding her royalties for two years and attempting to force her into a 12-year contract, which she declined. “We signed a backup contract in 2017. Later, he tried to convince me to extend it to 12 years, but I refused. Since then, he’s been toxic, trying to make my life unbearable,” she said. Chinwo alleged that after her refusal, EeZee Tee forged a new contract and withheld her earnings as retaliation.

Defending herself against claims that she initiated legal action, Chinwo clarified that it was EeZee Tee who took her and fellow gospel artist JudiKay to court. “This is not to paint him bad. He took me to court and made it public, claiming I sued him. Here are the documents. You bullied me, seized my royalties, and threatened my life,” she stated.

The ongoing dispute has taken an emotional toll on Chinwo, who wrote in her Instagram caption, “I am overwhelmed with sadness every single day. People call me names and accuse me unjustly. This burden is too heavy for me to bear.”
