The All Progressives Congress’ Transition Committee in Kaduna State has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, calling on it to investigate what it called the last-minute looting of the state’s treasury by the outgoing governor of the state, Mukhtar Yero.

It will be recalled that the APC caucus in the state House of Assembly had raised the alarm over a plot by the Governor Mukhtar Yero administration to defraud the government of N2.744bn Sure-P funds, describing it as “an act of last-minute looting” the state government’s decision to appropriate the 2014 Sure-P funds for the 24 local government areas.

The committee, in a petition entitled, “The attempt to misappropriate Sure-P Funds in Kaduna State,” argued that it was baffled that less than two weeks to the May 29 handover, Yero has continued to mount pressure on the state legislators to approve the N2.744bn.
