FirstBank launches Digital Xperience Centre at University of Benin

First Bank of Nigeria has commissioned a Digital Xperience Centre (DXC) at the University of Benin (UNIBEN), in a move aimed at strengthening digital banking, innovation and customer convenience within the academic community.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of FirstBank, Olusegun Alebiosu, said the centre was designed to complement, not replace, traditional banking halls, stressing that the initiative would not result in job losses.
According to him, the DXC goes beyond a conventional banking outlet, offering students, academic staff and residents of the host community round-the-clock access to a wide range of digital banking services.
“This Digital Xperience Centre is about taking banking to the next level,” Alebiosu said. “Everything you can do in a banking hall – account opening, deposits, withdrawals, updating customer information, lodging complaints and more – can be done here.”
He added that the centre operates 24 hours a day, including weekends, allowing users to bank at their convenience, even late at night or during examination periods.
Alebiosu explained that the UNIBEN facility is the ninth DXC established by the bank nationwide and is equipped with advanced self-service terminals and cutting-edge technology to deliver faster, more personalised and secure banking services.
He also noted that the initiative aligns with FirstBank’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) objectives by promoting financial inclusion, enhancing digital literacy and supporting underserved communities.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Professor Edoba Omoregie, welcomed the initiative, describing the DXC as a valuable addition to the campus.
“We are excited and grateful to FirstBank for this facility,” Omoregie said. “It will expand the scope of our staff and faculty and improve our operations. UNIBEN is a large university, and this centre will greatly enhance banking access for our community.”
The launch of the Digital Xperience Centre underscores FirstBank’s commitment to digital transformation, customer-focused innovation and community engagement, while providing a modern and accessible banking experience within a university environment.
