Men of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian police force, Monday morning, sealed off the venue of a symposium where Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka and other speakers where to address the state of insecurity in the country.
Some of the participants who were already at the venue were arrested.
The programme which was organised by Coalition for Revolution (CORE), was billed to hold at 46, Ibijoke street, Oluyole bus-stop, Oregun, Lagos with the theme: “Democracy, State Repression and the State of insecurity in Nigeria”.
One of organisers told Business Hallmark that they had gotten the information that the security agencies were coming to prevent the event from holding.
The police has meanwhile, occupied strategic locations around the venue.
