Dasukigate: EFCC arrests first APC chieftain, Jafaru Isa

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Wednesday night arrested a former military administrator of Kaduna State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Brigadier-General Lawal Jafaru Isa (rtd).
Isa is the first APC chieftain to be arrested by the EFCC since the beginning of the probe into the alleged diversion of $2.1 billion for arms purchase.
The former military administrator was a one-time governorship candidate of the defunct CPC in Kano State.
Hw is also a close political associate of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He was arrested at his Abuja residence at Ajayi Crowther Street, Asokoro.
It was gathered that Isa was invited last week to appear before the commission on Wednesday (yesterday) to clear the air on “some questionable receipts” from the former NSA.
The EFCC believes the retired military administrator received about N100 million from Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd), former National Security Adviser.
Instead of honouring the invitation, an EFCC source said Isa wrote a letter to the EFCC through his lawyer, seeking a postponement of his appearance date on the grounds of death of a relative.
Not satisfied with his excuse, the EFCC, moved to arrest him to clarify the “questionable receipts”.
