Bawa interrogates suspended EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa

The Department of State Services (DSS) has begun interrogation of the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa.

Bawa arrived the headquarters of DSS at about 9:02pm on Wednesday.

Spokesman of the DSS, Peter Afunanya confirmed Bawa’s presence in a statement.

“The Department of State Services (DSS) has invited Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, the suspended Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“Bawa arrived a few hours ago. The invitation relates to some investigative activities concerning him”, Afunanya said in terse statement

Bola Tinubu had earlier on Wednesday suspended Bawa.

His suspension, according to a statement by the Director, Information, SGF Office, Willie Basse, is to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office.

“This follows weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him,” the statement said.

“Mr Bawa has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation.”
