Avon Dialysis Centre named Dialysis Service Provider of the Year at NHEA 2026

Avon Dialysis Centre, a subsidiary of Avon Medical, has been recognised as the Dialysis Service Provider of the Year at the 2026 Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Awards (NHEA), underscoring its contributions to specialist renal care and patient-centred healthcare services in Nigeria.

The award, announced at the 2026 NHEA, celebrates the centre’s commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, patient safety and quality service delivery in the management of kidney-related illnesses.

According to the organisation, Avon Dialysis Centre has provided more than 16,730 dialysis sessions to over 500 patients suffering from acute and chronic kidney diseases over the past eight years.

The centre operates nine dialysis machines across its facilities and conducts an average of 250 dialysis sessions monthly, supported by a multidisciplinary team comprising nephrologists, specialised dialysis nurses and other healthcare professionals.

In addition to routine dialysis services, the centre offers advanced Intensive Care Unit haemodiafiltration (HDF), a specialised renal support treatment designed for critically ill patients. It also maintains an in-house pharmacy and enhanced laboratory services aimed at improving continuity of care and enabling faster clinical decisions.

Speaking on the recognition, Chief Executive Officer of Avon Medical Practice, Dr Akinbiyi Oke, described the award as a reflection of the organisation’s dedication to delivering high-quality and compassionate kidney care.

Oke dedicated the award to the centre’s patients and healthcare professionals, noting that their trust, expertise and commitment had contributed significantly to the achievement.

He added that the recognition would encourage the organisation to continue investing in innovation, personnel development and healthcare infrastructure to expand access to quality medical services.

Also commenting, Head of Diagnostics, Dialysis Services and Patient Experience at Avon Medical Practice, Dr Ejiro Ogodo-Nwachukwu, said the award highlights the dedication of the centre’s multidisciplinary team to improving patient outcomes.

According to her, quality kidney care extends beyond dialysis treatment and includes ensuring that patients receive comprehensive support throughout their treatment journey.
