Osun 2026: Oyebamiji Donates N10m to Igbonna Cooperative Society, Secures Endorsement from Traders

By Sunday Oguntuyi, Osogbo

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, on Thursday donated N10 million to the Igbonna Cooperative Society to support traders at the popular Igbonna International Market in Osogbo.

Oyebamiji announced the donation during a rally organised by market men and women, where thousands of traders declared their support for his governorship ambition.

He said the donation was aimed at strengthening the cooperative society and empowering traders to expand their businesses.

The APC candidate also pledged to prioritise the welfare of small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) if elected, promising to transform the Igbonna International Market into a major commercial hub through improved infrastructure and enhanced economic support.

According to him, his administration would leverage the support of the Federal Government to boost commercial activities across the market and other trading centres in the state.

“I will not abandon you. Our party remains committed to improving the livelihoods of our people through sustainable economic policies,” Oyebamiji said.

“We have our party in government at the federal level and in many local governments. What we need now is to ensure that we also take over the government in Osun State. That will enable us to maximise the support available from the Federal Government.

“I will also speak with our mother, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to extend her women and youth empowerment programmes to traders in Igbonna Market and other markets across Osun State.”

Speaking at the rally, the Director-General of the Osun APC Campaign Council, Hon. Wole Oke, urged traders to support the APC in the forthcoming governorship election, describing the party as best positioned to revive the state’s economy.

Oke, who represents Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said an Oyebamiji administration would create an enabling environment for small and medium-scale businesses to thrive, while driving industrialisation and economic growth across the state.

He added that supporting local enterprises and expanding economic opportunities would be among the key priorities of an APC-led government in Osun.

In their separate remarks, traders at the market expressed appreciation for the N10 million donation and pledged their support for Oyebamiji’s candidacy, expressing confidence that his administration would improve the fortunes of the market and stimulate economic development across the state.
