If elected, I’ll give my people quality representation - Badamasuiy

By Adebayo Obajemu

Hon. Abdulrahman Badamasuiy, a former member of the House of Representatives for Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency, has declared his intention to return to the National Assembly in 2027, promising to deliver quality representation and people-oriented governance if elected.

Badamasuiy, who previously served as Chairman of Adavi Local Government Area, Chairman of the Kogi State Pension Board Commission, and Commissioner for Environment, said his decision to seek a return to the House was driven by calls from constituents who believe in his leadership capacity and track record.

Speaking in an interview with Business Hallmark, the former lawmaker said politics for him has always been about improving the living conditions of the people.

“For me, politics has always been about one thing: improving the conditions of the people I represent,” he said.

“What’s different now is the volume of calls coming from home. Across Adavi and Okehi, people have been consistent in asking me to come back and continue the work. I don’t take that lightly.

“When your people ask you to return, it means they believe you understand their problems and can act on them. If given the mandate again, my focus will be on delivering projects and policies that create real, measurable change in people’s lives,” he added.

Badamasuiy also expressed strong support for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s re-election bid in 2027, describing her as a selfless and accessible leader committed to the welfare of her constituents.

He said his recent interfaith prayer gathering for the senator’s return to the Senate was informed by his belief in her style of leadership and the overwhelming support she enjoys among the people of Kogi Central.

“Senator Natasha is the kind of public servant Nigeria needs more of. She’s selfless, accessible, and deeply committed to her people,” he stated.

“Her people want her back, and it’s obvious why. Leadership should be about service, and she embodies that. I organised the interfaith prayers because I believe in her capacity and because the people have already decided,” he said.

Reflecting on his tenure as Chairman of Adavi LGA, Badamasuiy highlighted the construction and rehabilitation of schools, upgrading of health centres, rural road projects, and empowerment programmes for youths and artisans as some of his major achievements.

According to him, his administration also constructed the new Zango Market along the Kabba-Okene road to provide traders with a structured business environment.

“We focused on the basics that unlock opportunity. We built and rehabilitated schools so children didn’t have to learn under trees. We equipped community health centres and opened up rural roads so farmers and traders could move their goods easily,” he explained.

On the performance of the current National Assembly, the former lawmaker noted that every legislative session operates within different political and economic realities, stressing that Nigeria’s democracy is still evolving.

“Every assembly operates in its own political and economic context, so comparisons have limits. Nigeria’s democracy is still maturing, and the key is to keep building institutions and strengthening accountability,” he said.

Commenting on the administration in Kogi State, Badamasuiy said governance comes with enormous challenges and urged citizens to engage leaders constructively.

“Governance is not a tea party. From what I see, the current administration is making an effort. We should encourage what’s working, point out what isn’t, and pray for wisdom for those in leadership,” he noted.

Describing himself as a leader committed to grassroots development, Badamasuiy said his desire remains to serve his people and advance policies that directly impact their lives.

“I want to serve my people; that’s my greatest desire,” he said.

Honourable Abdulrahaman Badamasuiy is a distinguished Leader, that Adavi/Okehi need this time around to complement the effort of Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan at the National Assembly. He’d good to go.
