Osun 2026: I’m Confident of Victory, APC Candidate Oyebamiji Declares

The All Progressives Congress (All Progressives Congress) governorship candidate, Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has expressed strong confidence in his chances of winning the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, saying the party has worked extensively to secure the mandate of the people.

Oyebamiji stated this while speaking with journalists at a special prayer ceremony held in honour of the 89th birthday of the Chairman of Igbimo-Agba Osun, Engr. Sola Akinwumi, the apex advisory body of the APC in the state.

The event took place at Akinwumi’s country home in Ilobu, and attracted party leaders, supporters, and political associates.

The APC candidate dismissed claims allegedly made by members of the Accord Party, insisting that the people of Osun State were ready to vote out Governor Ademola Adeleke.

He also rejected suggestions that the APC was relying on federal influence to secure victory, stressing that the party’s campaign was based on merit and public support.

“We have tried our best. We are confident that we are going to win this election. We have worked for it, and the people of Osun are yearning for a change, a new Osun,” Oyebamiji said.

“We are not depending on anybody. Contrary to speculation, there is no federal might. We have canvassed extensively, and I can say categorically that the people of Osun are expecting us.”

He congratulated Engr. Akinwumi on his 89th birthday, describing him as a respected leader and political figure whose contributions to the party remain significant.

In his remarks, Engr. Akinwumi expressed gratitude to God for attaining the milestone age and appreciated APC leaders, party members, and guests who attended the celebration.

He also acknowledged the presence of the son of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.

Akinwumi urged residents of Osun State to turn out en masse and vote for Oyebamiji in the forthcoming election, calling for a peaceful electoral process.

“I want to appeal to the people of Osun to go out on election day and vote for Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, our candidate. There should be no crisis,” he said.

“We have the people in Osun. If it is about numbers, 90 percent of them are with us, and they will vote for our candidate.”

Also speaking, the Secretary of Igbimo-Agba Osun, Hon. Omolaoye Akintola, congratulated the celebrant and described him as a seasoned political leader with deep experience and political insight.

He said Oyebamiji was well-positioned to improve governance in the state, having studied the strengths and weaknesses of previous administrations.

“He has studied the pitfalls of past and present administrations and is well-positioned to address grey areas to improve governance in Osun State,” Akintola said.
