You're corrupt with a habit of abusing women, Atiku blasts Akpabio

A former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has made strong allegations against Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, declaring that Akpabio is not only corrupt as a governor but also in the habit of abusing women.

Atiku made this known while speaking during an interview with Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie of Untold Stories noted that he has known Akpabio as one who abuses women.

It could be recalled that Akpabio has been accused serially by at least two women who worked with him of sexually harassing them.

One of the women was the former managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Joy Nunieh who alleged that the Senate President harassed her during his time as the Niger Delta minister. Nunieh also made a claim that out of anger at his amorous advances, to have slapped Akpabio for her sexually harassing her.

The most recent allegation, came from the lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan who alleged that Akpabio has harassed her severally during her short stay at the Nigerian Senate.

Akpoti-Uduaghan who is currently under suspension from the Senate said Akpabio had promised to help her career by handing her juicy positions with the conditions that she yields to his sexual advances.

Answering questions on the character of the current Senate President, Atiku said, “Not only was he (Akpabio) corrupt but he was also in the habit of abusing, you know, women.”

Speaking on the planned coalition of opposition parties and leaders across the nation, ahead of the 2027 election, Atiku suggested that they done it (a merger) before and would likely do it again in preparation of the 2027 general elections.

“You know we had, you know, a similar merger in 2014, and there were about four of us. Or is it two or three? We all ran for President and one of us emerged and we all supported the one who emerged and he won,” Atiku said.

While he did not hint at any suggestions of again running for president, Atiku stressed the need for experienced and credible leadership for Nigeria at this time.

“I have not seen Nigeria in more dire need of an experienced and credible leader than now,” Atiku stated.

He noted that the Red Chamber section of the National Assembly is headed by a corrupt individual.

“I was not surprised because I know the leadership is corrupt and I have no apologies about that. And they could do anything, the Senate is actually know to be having those type of character even when he was a governor,” he added.
