Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has publicly apologised to fellow actress Mercy Johnson, her children and her family over past disagreements and comments made on social media.
Okorie made the apology in a video posted on her Instagram page on Wednesday, where she first expressed gratitude to her fans before addressing Mercy Johnson directly.
“Hi everybody, this is your one and only Legit Queen. I just want to say a very big thank you to all my fans around the world… I’m not a perfect being,” she said.
She stated that the video was meant specifically for Mercy Johnson and her family.
“So this video is specifically for Mercy and her kids and her family,” she said.
Reflecting on how misunderstandings may have arisen over time, Okorie said rumours and hearsay contributed to the tension between them.
“Some people will come and tell me that Mercy said, some people will tell me that Angela said. There have been issues, quarrels and chaos, but at this age, I don’t think this is what I want,” she added.
She then apologised for any hurtful words she may have written or said about Mercy Johnson.
“I just want to apologise to you if it’s the words I have written anytime your name pops out on social media. I am deeply sorry. You are not a witch. You are not what people are calling you,” she said.
Okorie also spoke about the importance of peace for the sake of their children, condemning any form of bullying directed at Mercy Johnson’s kids.
“We don’t know where our kids will meet each other tomorrow. They might be best of friends… I do not love the fact that they call Mercy’s kids names, which is bullying them in school. If they do it to my child, I won’t take it,” she said.
Repeating her apology, she appealed for forgiveness from anyone she might have offended.
“I am deeply sorry for everything. I love everybody. Please, knowingly or unknowingly, forgive me,” she said.
Okorie revealed that she and Mercy Johnson had already spoken privately and resolved their issues.
“When we spoke on the phone, you apologised to me and I accepted you wholeheartedly,” she noted.
She ended the video by praying for Mercy Johnson and wishing her well.
The apology follows Okorie’s recent arrest by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department over allegations of cyberstalking, threats and harassment. She was later granted bail in the sum of N5 million.
