Rivers Exco Approves ₦1.8trn ‘Budget of Resilience’ to Drive Growth, Complete Key Projects in 2026

The Rivers State Executive Council has approved a ₦1.8 trillion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year, tagged the “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development.”
The approval was granted at a State Executive Council meeting held late on Friday evening.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the newly sworn-in Special Adviser to Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Economic Matters and Social Development, Prof. Peter Medee, said the proposed budget is aimed at consolidating ongoing projects and accelerating new investments across critical sectors of the state’s economy.
According to Medee, the 2026 spending plan reflects the administration’s determination to sustain development momentum and deliver tangible benefits to residents, despite prevailing economic and political challenges.
He stressed that the government remains resolute in meeting its development objectives and ensuring continuity of key infrastructure and social intervention projects across the state.
Also present at the joint briefing were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Dr Honour Sirawoo, and the newly sworn-in Special Adviser on Finance, Barrister Frank Fubara.
